Data sync
A one-time data sync imports up to 12 months of historical Stripe payments, so ProTally can show profit trends from before you installed.
Why sync?
ProTally automatically tracks new payments from the moment you install. But to see meaningful trends — and to make the 6- and 12-month views useful — it needs your past payments too. The data sync imports that history in one click.
Syncing is optional, but recommended. Without it, your overviews only fill out gradually as new sales come in.
Running a sync
- Go to Settings → ProTally and open the Data Sync tab.
- Click Sync last 12 months.
ProTally begins importing your historical Stripe Checkout and payment data in the background. You can keep using the app while it runs.
Tracking progress
The Data Sync tab shows the current status and updates itself automatically — there's no need to refresh:
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Sync in progress | ProTally is importing your historical payments. This can take a few minutes for large accounts. |
| Sync complete | Your history has been imported. New payments are now kept in sync automatically, and the last sync time is shown. |
| Sync did not complete | Something interrupted the import and your data may be incomplete. Click Retry sync. |
Re-running a sync
Once a sync is complete you can run it again at any time from the same tab — useful if you want to pick up anything that may have been missed. New payments are always kept current automatically, so day-to-day you shouldn't need to.
Account must be active
Sync is only available once your account is active. If you've just installed and see "Account not yet active", give setup a moment to finish (see Setup & first run) and the sync controls will appear.
